The Spanish ports moved 67.7 million tons of goods from / to / from any Asian country.

Puertos del Estado and a representation of Spanish ports and companies will participate in the fair Transport & Logistic China 2016, located at booth Ports of Spain, to be held in the port city of Shanghai between 14 and 16 June. It will be the second time that ports and Spanish companies are present together in the largest trade fair held throughout Asia, as in its more than 25,000 m2 of exhibition space will appear 500 international exhibitors and over 15,000 trade visitors.
Spanish trade mission, in addition to Puertos del Estado will have pressence Algeciras Bay, Cádiz Bay, Barcelona, Bilbao, Ferrol, Huelva, Málaga, S.C. Tenerife, Tarragona, and Valencia, and the following companies Barcelona Europe South Terminal (BEST), Noatum, Consorcio de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, Salón de la Logística de Barcelona and Vasco Catalana Group, main objectives convey a strong image of Spanish institutional support to the development of shipping, ports and logistics sector, and your business; and also, to advert the Chinese market and Asian, Spanish ports in order to achieve strong, stable and enduring links that allow increase relations mainly between Spanish companies and Chinese companies related to the port sector, taking advantage of this way the strength China’s economy in order to attract new traffic and value-added activity to the Spanish ports.

The Asian market is, in terms of volume of goods, the fourth greater exchanges which made the Spanish ports. Thus, of the 488 million goods moved to Europe, Africa, America and Asia, the latter accounted for 13.8% of the total, ie 67.7 million tons. In 2015, goods from / to any Asian country amounted to 46.3 million tons, an increase of 3.1% over the previous year. In addition, 21.4 million tons of goods in transit passed through Spanish ports, which represented an increase of 4.4% compared to 2014. Regarding this, the possibilities of Spanish ports to increase the transfer goods, especially on goods in transit, has increased significantly in recent years with the introduction and/ or expansion of facilities that major Asian shipping companies (Hutchison, Cosco, Hanjin…) they have in Spain.

It will allow them to become reference platforms that will channel the interests of the Chinese public and private agents to the Spanish port business community, so to ensure that end relationships generating new traffic and activity of added value for Spanish ports.
