A Chilean delegation, led by Minister of Transport and Technology of Chile, Andrés Gómez-Lobo, visited the facilities of the main port enclaves of Catalonia. Accompanied by the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing, Ministry of Development, Julio Gómez-Pomar, and the president of Port Authority, José Llorca, have toured the facilities of the ports of general interest of the State of Barcelona and Tarragona.
During the visits, which have been representatives of the Ministry of Economy and the Government, and the presidents of the Port Authority of Barcelona and Tarragona, Sixte Cambra and Josep Andreu, respectively, the Chilean delegation had the opportunity to meet the degree of infrastructure development of two major Spanish ports, as well as ongoing projects. After making two separate trips by sea port facilities, the delegation showed particular interest in knowing the port-city urban development, in which both cities stand out for the determined and respectful integration being done.
Spain can bring “know how” in port engineering, planning and management, and urban integration of ports.
In this respect, recognition and experience that Spain has internationally in areas such as port engineering, model development and integration of port-city, or port management and training are areas in which it will continue to seek formulas for collaboration between both countries.
